Final Action Research Plan

 Statement:
The Title I school has minimal parent involvement. The student population is represented by 50% Hispanic, 49% African American, 87% economically disadvantaged, and 46% at-risk as reported on the AEIS 2010-11 profile.
Action research questions:
  • In what ways can we improve parent involvement?
  • What are the relationships between parent involvement and student behavior?
  • What are the relationships between parent involvement and student achievement?

  1. Have you talked with your principal to discuss the activities on campus, activities from home and after hours activities and programs that parents can participate in? Is there an active Parent Volunteer Group on campus now?

  2. Lara, You have a lot of great activites and tracking with meetings. However, I didn't see specifics on how you were going to "get" them there! I am assuming some of this is going to be established in the BOY meetings with other staff members. This is the same area I struggled with....if they are not attending now, letting them know we are having another meeting is not going to change their behavior?!?! Are you offering incentives? We used to do food but can't anymore! That caused a huge turnout! I am still looking but thought I would check with you on this point!
